A story reports that $98 BILLION, that billion with a “B” has been MIS-PAID by the government. Now, anyone who even remotely keeps up with the real issue, knows beyond doubt that if $98 billion is reported, it’s probably many times MORE than that in reality.

Who cares… let’s hand over a 1/4th of the economy to the government anyway.  They caused the mortgage crash then claimed to be the solution. Ditto with the other industries. Why? The government enacts the absurd laws (meant to get votes and pay off donors) that cause skyrocketing costs and precarious financial situations… then when the industry crashes and burns, the hypocrites on the Hill blame everyone but themselves and claim to be the new solution.

America is imploding but as long as we have a flat panel TV and beer, who cares.

Improper US Government Payments Hit $98 Billion

Improper payments by the U.S. government to people, firms and contractors rose sharply to $98 billion in fiscal 2009 and President Barack Obama plans new rules to clamp down, the White House said Tuesday.

Over half the mistakes were made in the Medicare and Medicaid programs, and although some of the deterioration reflected stricter measurement, it also showed the need for healthcare reform, Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orszag told reporters.

Improper payments by the U.S. government to people, firms and contractors rose sharply to $98 billion in fiscal 2009 and President Barack Obama plans new rules to clamp down, the White House said Tuesday.

“This was not the result of methodological changes. This is one of the reasons why, as part of health reform, we believe there are crucial changes necessary to the Medicare Advantage program,” he said on a telephone conference call.

Obama has made overhaul of the $2.5 trillion U.S. healthcare industry his top domestic policy goal, pledging to expand medical coverage to millions of the uninsured and make healthcare more affordable.

Orszag stressed that tougher measurement, as well as higher government spending due to the recession, explained a big part of the jump in government waste.

I am writing to weigh in with my opinion about our American President – The President apointed a General to oversee the “WAR” in Afghanistan, the General has requested troops… the President needs to send “DOUBLE” the number requested, finish the war and move on to Iraq then Iran. Our American needs to act like Commander in Chief of the armed forces of the greatest nation on earth and stop, I say again stop, “Bowing” to leaders of other nations. I believe the president ought to sent to the oval office for a long needed “Timeout” and maybe be schooled on how to be a good american, then get a beifing on decorum and protocol before he attends another meeting with anyone! As far as our nation’s Atty General’s decision to try an enemy combatant of the United States and “Terrorist” in the N.Y. Civil Court. That is just plain stupid!
A US Military Tribunal is more than capable of handling this case and this is whwere this case should be heard. period. Our national security is at stake, our statagies and war plans should not be revealed in open court for the liberal mamby pamby media to broadcast to the nations… that sir is treason! Cogress needs to Stand united on this issue or we’ll all take the fall for it!
